Carroll wanted to play with Rooney
Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll is interested in forging a solid partnership with Manchester United's Wayne Rooney when it comes to playing for England.
The 21-year-old believes that his presence on the pitch could be beneficial for the former Everton man, as the youngster insists that he can help a fellow forward overcome a rough patch of form.
"The prospect of playing alongside Wayne Rooney for England really excites me," Carroll said, according to The Mirror.
"He could definitely play off me. I think we definitely could be successful. Obviously the way he plays and the way I play we could go well together.
"Wayne is a great player so with the talk about me and him playing up front, it means a lot to me to know that people are saying that."
Carroll has made 13 starts in the Premier League, scoring eight goals in the process.
